Despite fluoridation 1/3 adults have active decay w dire consequences

Healthy mouth, healthy body - The Item: Local News:  According to the Centers for Disease Control, nearly 25 percent of adults 65 or older have no remaining teeth, and about one-third of older adults have untreated tooth decay.

The American Dental Association states the average adult has three or more decayed or missing teeth. An absence of good oral health practices can lead to many health problems, including dry mouth, excessive decay, gum disease or oral cancer. Untreated dental disease can lead to infection, damaged bones or nerves and tooth loss. Dental infections, if left untreated, can spread to other parts of the body. Severe gum disease is associated with chronic disease such as diabetes, heart disease and respiratory disease.
