After 65 years of water fluoridation, tooth decay is plaguing the US Army.
"since 2002, we have indicators across the board that our dental rates are really having some challenges. Specifically, 32 percent of new soldiers in 2002 were classified as dental category 3 or 4, meaning they were nondeployable until the issue was addressed. By 2009, that number had jumped to 58 percent."
