Folks in need make way to dental clinics | News-Gazette.com – Your Source for News and Advertising in East Central Illinois: Illinois where fluoridation is state-mandated: "It was Douglas County's dire need for affordable dentistry that led the county health department to open its own dental clinic in early 2008.

Nearly three years later, needy patients from well beyond Douglas County are finding their way to this small clinic in Tuscola. And nobody is turning them away."

"What many of the dental clinic's patients have in common is they can't get their foot in the door at a private dentist's office, because they're either uninsured or covered under the state Medicaid program.

Some 550 of the clinic's approximately 6,000 patients come from Champaign County alone, and another 1,200 come from Coles County, said Lisa Biehl, the Douglas County Health Department's director of dental services."
