Anthem Foundation of Ohio Grants $1.1 Million:
Ohio is 91% fluoridated but that huge expense doesn't stop the need for money to actually treat the poor -
"AF-Ohio awarded grants ranging from $36,000 to $250,000 to six organizations (see attached list) that will increase access to oral health care for low-income, uninsured and underinsured individuals. "
"The Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) in 1999, selected "preventive oral health care" as the focus of a multi-year grantmaking initiative after learning that oral health was the number one unmet health need in all of Ohio. Left untreated, oral diseases impact childhood development, reduce productivity and employability, increase health care costs, reduce employability, decrease overall health and can result in pain, malnutrition and even death."
