Dental Problems Number One Reason FL Kids Miss School / Public News Service

in spite of the greater prevalence of fluoride in drinking water, what a child
eats and drinks can have a big impact, even if they have good brushing habits.
"It's starting to get worse. All the soft drinks, Gatorade, the high-acidic
food, the refined carbohydrates. It's easier to do that than it is to eat fruits
and vegetables," says Stevenson

Fluoridation Fails Texas

Texas is 80% fluoridated. Yet, Texas Mission of Mercy organizers expect to see about 1000 people and help them with their dental problems.

There is a lot of people who can't afford dentistry, it's expensive, we try to help the working poor," said Judith Gonzales, the director of the Texas Dental Association's Smile Foundation. "You think you could go to another country and see this kind of decay and problems but it's in Texas, it's everywhere you go."
